Multi-Dimensional You

Let’s face it, we walk every day for practical reasons to get from Point A to Point B. So, when you walk for recreation or sport, it must be linked to the sheer enjoyment of wellness.

You're not a wellness walker? Lucky for you, even if your sense of well-being isn’t a primary motivation to walk, you still win big! It's exciting to realize that walking--in all its forms and venues--can deliver wellness benefits without your even having to think about it.

A fundraising 5K you support, your daily doggie strolls, an orienteering meet, the competitive marathon you walk, an environmental exploration or stewardship hike, and even those historical walking tours you love—all have the ability to help keep you well.

The Six Dimensions of Wellness Theory can be in full effect with your every step! See how walking fits, in the examples below.

SOCIAL dimension of wellness ::: Walking is a fun way to connect with others

INTELLECTUAL dimension of wellness ::: Walking involves basic skills and knowledge

SPIRITUAL dimension of wellness ::: Walking expresses personal values

EMOTIONAL dimension of wellness ::: Walking relieves pressure and life stresses

OCCUPATIONAL dimension of wellness ::: Walking helps us explore personal interests

PHYSICAL dimension of wellness ::: Walking can deliver cardio, endurance and other body benefits
