Kids Are Health-Conscious Too

Thanks to before-during and after-school programs that focus on wellness, kids are more aware of the body's need for good nutrition and plenty of exercise than most adults ever were. The junior high student pictured here is an active pre-teen who recently attended a teleconference where she got tips and ideas on staying in balance from Step Diet Book author, Bonnie T. Jortberg, MS, RD, CDE. Jortberg wrote special sections in the book that address kids, walking and healthy weight. In a national survey, more than half of students report they attend physical education class one or more days a week*.
