We've Named Her "The WB"

Wendy Bumgardner is an icon of walk culture and a role model of ours who we've named "The WB". We call our blog's link to her work a "Walk Encyclopedia". We think these monickers represent how much everyone respects and constantly accesses her walk-savvy brand.

Bumgardner says, "I am an avid walker who keeps abreast of information on walking for fitness, recreation, and as a sport. I can't give you personalized advice, especially about medical conditions, but can point you to good information."

What an understatement! A large part of the 'good information' Wendy shares is her comprehensive compilation of articles about the facts of walk life. Anyone who's ever visited Wendy's virtual home at About.com knows that she's researched and written about walking questions in a thorough yet user-friendly style, for a long time.

Lucky for us, on 12/17/05 Wendy gave Walktopia and our Walkies idea a mention in her Carnival of the Walkers. Carnival is a weekly round-up of walking blogs, news and fun walking sites. By the way, Wendy takes Carnival submissions at: walking [dot] guide [at] about [dot] com. Via her yahoogroup, Wendy is also running a "Top Walk" poll (focused on American Volkssport Association events) whose results she'll publish.
