Why's the blog wearing a white ONE.org band today? 'Cause we'd like you to consider this: During the 60-second ONE video, you'll see nearly 60 notables and celebs introduced by Brad Pitt and including Pat Robertson, George Clooney, Dikembe Mutombo, Selma Hayek, Ellen Degeneres and P Diddy.
Tom Hanks plainly states, "We're not asking for your money, we're asking for your voice".
Interesting if not refreshing, isn't it?
Along with U.S. governors, mayors, Bill Gates and decision-makers around the globe, this group has joined forces in the ONE campaign. Their purpose is to raise our AWARENESS about ending extreme poverty and AIDS in Asia, Africa and America. If nothing else, enjoy the well-funded campaign site (check out the podcast, too) and be motivated to consider your own action on the issues YOU think are most important.
Of course, please check out ONE campaign culture and community (we're always interested to take a lesson from how others find, define, build and sustain c&c): who's backing it, what are the politics, what's the platform and who are their partners?
Click the Thank You Letter from campaign ringleader Bono and the site 'press' link to get an idea of how and what the campaign is currently doing. If you like what you learn, you can electronically sign the ONE declaration. Supporters (and shop-a-holics whose desire to consume often overrules any possible differences in worldview) can buy a ONE t-shirt, book or wristband. Be sure to note that proceeds go to U.S. issues education and AWARENESS campaigns--not to projects or programs in the developing world.
Just consider...
